Below are some examples for each style mentioned in the above Price Guide. Please feel free to contact Helen if you would like to discuss details for a commission you have as styles can be combined in some cases. A5 = 5x5” or 5x8”
A4 = 8x8” or 8x11”
A3 = 11x11” or 11x16”
STYLE: Realistic coloured portrait
MEDIUM: Coloured pencils
DESCRIPTION: Common commission for people with horses, dogs, cats etc. Single subject, whole body or head/head and shoulders. Drawn realistically with attention to detail from a subject with moderate/’standard’ detail to begin with. Limited to no background.
STYLE: Line drawing
MEDIUM: Ink
EXAMPLE DESCRIPTION: Single colour (black) ink drawn realistically via rough lines and cross hatching for shading.
NOTE: For some compositions/subjects this style may not be as effective. Highly recommended to discuss options before you go ahead to see if it will translate well into this style of work.
STYLE: Realistic graphite portrait
MEDIUM: Graphite pencil
DESCRIPTION: Single subject head and shoulders. Subject is drawn realistically. Background added in at no cost at artists’ discretion, however some backgrounds will come with an additional cost. Standard quote is for no background.
STYLE: Simple watercolour
MEDIUM: Watercolour
EXAMPLE DESCRIPTION: Single subject close up of face. Perfect for infants and other subjects with limited detail. Artwork is completed primarily with two colours such as pink and blue seen here. Other colours can be added in but will be subtle and up to discussion.
STYLE: Realistic coloured portrait

DESCRIPTION: This example is what would be considered ‘more intricate detail.’ Single subject, whole body or head/head and shoulders.
STYLE: Loose pastel
MEDIUM: Pastel
DESCRIPTION: Single subject, recommend no more than head and shoulder focus. Higher detail only applied to one or two areas such as the eyes, or eyes and nose with other areas drawn in with rougher and more fluid strokes as seen here. Proportions remain realistic, colours (if using pastel) can match the reference image or have other colours adding in as seen in this example. Example shown here has slightly more detail than normal (fur strokes).

Commission bookings are made after you discuss what you would like with me, and pay the booking fee (20% for orders above $100 value). Full fee is required to book orders valued under $100. My desire is to ensure you are feeling as comfortable as possible with your order, so we will discuss details of your order prior to any payment being made. Once details are agreed upon you will be sent an invoice, and a contract for you to approve to ensure you feel I have an understanding of what you want. Mockups or any design elements will need a booking. If you have any questions feel free to make contact with one of the options below.
