GREEN TREE PYTHON (Morelia viridian)
Green tree python (Morelia viridian) are a species of constrictor snake native to New Guinea, some Indonesian islands and the Cape York Peninsula of Australia.
Like all constrictor snakes, they have a large number of small teeth that they use to latch onto prey in order to secure it for constriction and suffocation prior to eating. Adults are usually between 1.5 and 1.8m long however some females can be up to 2m. Juveniles are born yellow, with some dark red morphs also found, and start to change to their adult green colour when around 50cm long.
Their conservation status is currently listed as least concern.
THE ARTWORK:
The original piece was drawn exclusively in coloured pencil on A4 (approximately 8x11”) Art Spectrum cold press cotton rag. Reference photo taken for this artwork was used with permission from Jasmine Vink.
This piece is available as limited number (20 total) prints, printed on archival quality eco friendly Hahnemuhle card. Each print comes hand signed and numbered, with it’s own unique Certificate of Authenticity. Print size without frame is approximately 8x11" with a white bleed border (A4) or the larger 11x16” with a white bleed border (A3). All prints are created using archival inks and card, with professional scanning and processing to ensure colour matching and detail captures the original piece right down to each pencil stroke and card texture.
