Tiger snakes are endemic to Australia and found mostly in coastal environments, wetlands and creeks. Not all tiger snakes sport the distinctive stripes seen in this subject. Some can be darker, or have no stripes at all. The body size, head shape and scale arrangement are the main ways used to identify them as a tiger snake. They are a venomous species, and feed primarily on frogs, rodents and small marsupials, other reptiles, birds and some fish. They do not see humans as food, and certainly prefer to avoid us rather than waste their precious venom on us. Despite their venom being potent enough to kill a human there are very few hospitalisations recorded across Australia and even fewer deaths associated to tiger snake bites each year. This is due to a combination of snake bite first aid awareness in the public, antivenom availability and the tiger snake’s natural preference to avoid confrontation.

This piece was drawn exclusively in coloured pencil on A5 Art Spectrum cotton rag card, measuring approximately 5.5x8”. This piece is available as limited number (25) prints, printed on archival quality eco friendly Hahnemuhle card in both A5 and a larger A4 size. Each print comes hand signed and numbered, with it’s own unique Certificate of Authenticity. Print size without frame is approximately 5.5x8” (A5) or 8"x11" (A4). All prints are created using archival inks, with professional scanning and processing to ensure colour matching and detail captures the original piece right down to each pencil stroke and card texture.
